The Lehlohonolo Majoro transfer saga seems to have taken a new twist despite his announced move to SuperSport, as Siya sources have revealed that the player arrived at Chiefs for training on Saturday - saying that he had not signed for Matsatsantsa.
In what has been one of the most talked about transfer dealings of the season, it was announced on Friday by the clubs that Majoro had joined SuperSport, with the player getting a three-and-a-half year deal - with the option of another year. George Maluleka moved in the opposite direction at the same time.
The announcement confirmed what Soccer-Laduma had predicted back in December before the start of the transfer window, but today, Majoro turned up for training at Kaizer Chiefs. Telling teammates and Siya sources that he had not signed for SuperSport.
This leads to the mystery of why the agent, Tim Sukazi, and both clubs revealed the news, if the player says it is not true.
The answer may well be in the story that Soccer-Laduma wrote in the last newspaper of the year, issue 852, under the heading - ‘Majoro: What will happen next?’
The story reveals that despite Majoro and SuperSport getting close to a deal at that time, the Siya crew stated that there were strong rumours suggesting that Pirates had already signed a pre-contract with the player and that he could join them at the end of the season.
This was hotly denied by the player's agent, but as the same story suggested, the relationship between Sukazi and Pirates had soured since the Eric Mathoho deal, where they player joined Chiefs. This would mean it is possible that Pirates negotiated with Majoro directly.
This could explain why Majoro is claiming that he hasn't signed for SuperSport, because he has already committed himself to Pirates.
But also don't be surprised if this is smoothed over shortly and the player ends up at SuperSport as announced. Either way, Majoro will have some explaining to do.
However, at this stage, all of this is still speculation and the Siya-crew will continue looking into the matter to bring the fully story into light.
