City Star To Pip Pirates Man To PSL Gong?
Lebogang Manyama looks likely to pip Tendai Ndoro to the 2016/17 Absa Premiership Golden Boot as he once more closed the gap on the Zimbabwean.
Manyama was on the scoresheet as Cape Town City beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 on Tuesday evening in the Mother City, bagging his 12th goal of the campaign despite playing as an attacking midfielder for large parts of the season.
The 26-year-old is now level with Ndoro at the top of the scoring charts, and the fact that the Buccaneers forward has scored just once since the start of the year, Manyama certainly seems to have the upper hand.
Gabadinho Mhango at Bidvest Wits has nine goals to his name and is still in with an outside chance, as is Polokwane City’s Rodney Ramagalela with eight goals. Percy Tau and Themba Zwane have seven each but may be too far off the leaders at this stage.
There is a possibility that Collins Mbesuma’s Golden Boot-winning tally of 14 goals will be beaten this season, however the 20-goal mark that many hope to see looks to be a long way off.
