Kaizer Chiefs have exercised their option to add an extra year onto Tsepo Masilela’s contract with the club.
Masilela joined the Glamour Boys in 2012 from Israeli outfit Maccabi Haifa after spending the 2011/12 season on loan in Spain at Getafe.
The left back initially signed on a two-year deal and after impressing during that spell, the club offered him a another two year deal with a one-year option in 2014, which he accepted.
Prosport International agent, Mike Makaab, has confirmed to the Siya crew that the Amakhosi have exercised their option for a one-year extension which keeps the defender at Naturena until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Masilela has proven to be a vital cog in the Chiefs defensive unit both under former coach, Stuart Baxter, and current coach, Steve Komphela.
The 30-year-old has played 74 league games in his time at the club despite being prone to injuries and has helped the Glamour Boys do the league and cup double on two separate occasions during his tenure.
Are you glad Chiefs have secured Masilela for another season or do you think they should be starting to look towards youth? Who do you think the best left back in the league is currently?
