Toure has been frozen out of the first team this season, follow Guardiola's arrival at Etihad. Although the former Barcelona manager has been drawn into a war of words with the player's agent.
Although it does not look like Toure will be playing anytime soon ad Jamie Redknapp believes Ilkay Gundogan can fill the void left by the Ivorian midfielder.
"Ilkay Gundogan is looking more and more the man who can fill the void left by Yaya Toure in City's midfield," Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column.
"Toure may be surplus to requirements at City but he averaged 12 goals a season.
"In Gundogan, it looks like Guardiola has someone with a similar goal threat who can take the pressure off Sergio Aguero. That's four goals he has scored in two games now. He is a quality operator and didn't even have a pre-season!"
