Jabu Mahlangu believes that Thabo Rakhale’s recent performances for Orlando Pirates have inspired the likes of Mark Mayambela.
Rakhale has been in fine form for the Buccaneers in recent times and has brought an element of flair and skill back to South African football that has been missing for a while.
Mayambela returned to Mzansi’s with Chippa United at the beginning of the season following a year in Sweden with Djurgardens IF. Before his move to Sweden the skilful 27-year-old endured a tough spell at Mpumalanga Black Aces but looks eager to set things right this time around.
Mahlangu believes that Rakhale has paved the way for the likes of Mayambela to shine and bring tricks and skills back into the modern game.
“Thabo Rakhale has been excellent. He has been determined to show that he is not limited to show-boating – he assists and scores goals. I think he has inspired players like Mark Mayambela,” Mahlangu told Soccer Laduma.
“There is evidence that natural South African flair can be merged with modern tactics and purpose. You can see that Mayambela, like Rakhale, wants to show that you can find a good balance between playing for the fans and for the team,” he added.
