Tyson’s Wits’ Return Unknown
Gavin Hunt has admitted that he doesn’t know when Thulani Hlatshwayo will be back after he missed last night’s defeat to SuperSport United.
‘Tyson’ was forced to sit on the sidelines on Tuesday evening as Wits were beaten 1-0 by Matsatsantsa at Bidvest Stadium, with Stuart Baxter’s side becoming the first club to do a league double over the Clever Boys this season.
The 27-year-old missed his fifth Absa Premiership game of the campaign as Hunt’s side dropped to third place, with their title aspirations taking a dent following Thuso Phala’s winner.
Now, with seven games left to play, Wits’ head coach says that they’re just trying to keep people on the field.
He told the media, “Last year with eight games to go we lost Tyson, Papy Faty, James Keene, Phakamani (Mahlambi). I don’t think Tyson has finished a season, it’s been three seasons now and he’s missed a lot of games. It’s unfortunate.
“We need mileage, and we need to keep players on the pitch as best we can. We all know that we haven’t trained – most teams don’t know, we can’t – then we play Friday and Monday again. We have to try and keep players on the pitch.
“Nazeer is player of the year for us so far, well, he was (until his injury). It’s a problem.”
Wits next game sees them take on Highlands Park on Friday night.
