Footballers Who Live The Game Stay In It Longer

Footballers Who Live The Game Stay In It Longer

This week, we take a look at some footballers who live the game to the max. These players treated the game with dignity and respect. They lived the beautiful game on and off the field of play. There is a number of them out there, but we will focus on three today.

Lesiba John "Shoes" Mosheou

The late Shoes Mosheou needs no introduction. Having begun his professional career in 1987, Shoes played till 2014. He was one of the most decorated players out there. Unfortunately, he passed away on 21 April 2015 (aged 49). The football fraternity will always remember him. He lived the game, and he was an example to all.

Surprise Moriri

He his professional career at what was then Silver Stars in 2002, and now, at 36 years old, "Uncle", as Surprise is affectionately known in the football circles, is still going strong, having just switched from reigning PSL and CAF Champions League champions Mamelodi Sundowns to newly promoted side Highlands Park. He is a living legend who lives the beautiful game.

Aaron "Mbazo" Mokoena

Mbazo started his career as a junior at Jomo Cosmos and left the country to pursue his career in Holland with Ajax Amsterdam in 1999, where he stayed until 2003, before moving on to Belgium. He returned to South Africa in the 2012/2013 season, and joined Bidvest Wits. He announced his retirement in 2014. Mbazo represented South Africa 107 times and was Bafana captain during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The man lived the beautiful game!

All these footballers lived the game that was pretty much in their veins, hence they had longer careers!
