National First Division Wrap

Thanda Royal Zulu
National First Division leaders, Thanda Royal Zulu, dropped vital points following a goalless draw with Santos, Royal Eagles thrashed Magesi 6-1, while there were also victories for Black Leopards, Mthatha Bucks, Witbank Spurs and Stellenbosch FC. In addition, there were also no goals between Jomo Cosmos and Cape Town All Stars with the same scenario playing out during the Milano United and Real Kings clash. Although Amabhubhesi maintained their unbeaten record during a second successive trip to the Mother City, this was the first match in which they failed to find the back of the net. Credit must go to the People's Teams' goalkeeper, Dino Visser, who made some great saves which ultimately denied Thanda three points. Eagles, the second highest scorers with 17 goals in 7 games, lambasted rock-bottom Magesi to grab fourth spot following a superb performance in KZN. Sedwyn George with four goals was their hero of the day, while Siyanda Ngubo and Raymond Monama also netted. Lidoda Duvha bounced back with a 3-2 success over struggling FC Cape Town which has now slumped to their third loss. Thembi Nevhulamba's first-half brace was the catalyst for Leopards to gain control and despite Ranga Chivaviro pulling one back for the African Beasts, Siphelele Mkhulise made it 3-1. A late consolation goal from Maboke Matlakala illustrated that Johnny Ferreira's side is capable of finding the net but having already conceded 13 times, his defence needs tightening up. Bucks, thanks to a late Andile Nkokweni winner, pipped Mbombela United 2-1 in the Eastern Cape, where a fantastic Mazwi Mncube effort around the 43rd minute mark had the home fans cheering. Bongani Ndhlovu brought matters level for the visitors but they again went home empty handed. Siyavutha did well to outwit University of Pretoria 2-0 with goals from Themba Ndlovu and Bongane Shabalala, while Sammy Troughton's Stellenbosch also had an away win after overpowering AmaZulu 1-0. Junaid Sait's neat finish now means the Winelands-based team is in third position, just behind Ezenkosi on goal difference.
