UEFA Champions League Report: Celtic 3-3 Manchester City 28 September 2016

UEFA Champions League Result: Celtic 3-3 Manchester City Date: 28 September 2016 Venue: Celtic Park Manchester City and Celtic shared the spoils in their UEFA Champions League tie on Wednesday after a thrilling 3-3 draw. The Scottish outfit made the ideal start as they took the lead after only three minutes. A smart free kick routine resulted in the ball hitting Moussa Dembele and finding its way across the goalline for the early lead. Their celbrations were cut short in the 11 minute as City struck back. Celtic failed to clear the danger and Fernandinho pounced on the chance to make it 1-1. The goals kept coming as the home side restored their lead. Tierney's attempted low cross took a big deflection off Raheem Sterling, beating a helpless Claudio Bravo at his near post. Sterling redeemed himself shortly thereafter by scoring the visitors' second equaliser in the 28th minute. A swift attack initiated by David Silva gave Sterling the chance to take on and beat Tierney before slotting the finish. The scores were level at 2-2 at the break, but Dembele gave Celtic the lead once more only two minutes into the second half. Tierney's cross was not cleared by Kolarov and Dembele took the ball and volleyed it into the back of the net. However, Pep Guardiola's charges were yet again determined to get back on level terms and did so in the 55th minute. Silva created the chance as he threaded a pass for Sergio Aguero whose effort was palmed by Gordon, but only as far as Nolito who provided the finish. Fernandinho was agonisingly close to scoring his second when he was afforded room by the Celtic defence, but his effort was fired just over the bar with Gordon beaten all ends up. Gordon made a top save in stoppage-time to deny Sterling and hold on to a point as the sides drew.
