After a goalless 90 minutes of football, Kaizer Chiefs ran out 4-3 winners in a penalty shoot-out over the Nedbank Ke Yona team at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
It was a perfect penalty shoot-out display form Chiefs who did not miss from the spot.
Brilliant Khuzwayo was brilliant in the shoot-out for Chiefs as well, making one save and intimidating the Ke Yona players on their turn to shoot from the spot.
Ke Yona were first to take a penalty and saw Khuzwayo producing a great acrobatic save to his left to deny them their first goal.
Malinga then stepped up for Chiefs and made it 1-0 before Ke Yona levelled scores with their second attempt, 1-1.
Philani Cele stepped up for Chiefs next and showed composure under pressure with a superb finish, 3-2.
Ke Yona, though, were not going to let it get away from them and levelled again with their next penalty, 3-3.
Gordinho scored Chiefs’ fourth penalty before another miss from Ke Yona handed Chiefs the win, 4-3.
