Platinum Stars head coach, Cavin Johnson, says that he hopes Enocent Mkhabela can handle the crowd at Kaizer Chiefs after making the move to Naturena.
Mkhabela, 27, was one of eight players unveiled by the Amakhosi earlier this week, after his new club managed to snap him up on a free following his release from SuperSport United.
Johnson, who worked with Mkhabela at both Stars and SuperSport, praised the midfield man’s versatility, saying that he was ‘sure’ the player will do well at Chiefs.
Speaking in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Johnson said, “I worked with Mkhabela at Platinum Stars a few seasons ago and he was very good, hey. He did a really good job for us and we really appreciate what he has done for the club. I also had him at SuperSport United and he’s such a quality player that he can play at least three different positions! That’s very good for him and his new club, Kaizer Chiefs, because of his versatility.
“He can play as a right back, centre back and central midfielder, so Chiefs have signed a very good player. I hope he can handle the crowd as this is the first really big team he’s playing for now. The pressure and everything that comes with playing for big teams is different to what you experience at other teams. Having said that, I’m sure he will do well at Chiefs.”
