Keagan Dolly’s move to French Ligue 1-outfit Montpellier has seen praise from some of the biggest names in the football fraternity.
The former Mamelodi Sundown’s star was finally unveiled by the French side on Friday, after waiting to be officially released from the Brazilians.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Bafana Bafana legend Benni McCarthy is happy that the 24-year-old made the decision to move abroad, however, believes that Dolly’s European move has been beckoning since his illustrious season with Ajax Cape Town.

“I think it was good for him to experience something different. In South African football, if you have that talent, you have to go and get stronger,” McCarthy told the Siya crew.
“It will help Keagan mentally, it will be a nice mental challenge for him because he has to learn to speak French, and so that alone makes you tough.
“It will make him a better player because he is going to come up against and face a lot of circumstances where you don’t understand what you’re teammates are saying and you don’t understand what the coach wants from you, but it is part of growing up.
“I think because he is talented, he is a very good player, it will just make him a stronger guy and a better player. When he comes to the national team, people are going to see the difference. That he is physically strong.
“For me it is a positive move. I would have said to him that he should have moved maybe two years ago, after he had that great season with Ajax then he should have gone overseas because he was perfect, he was the right age you know,” he added.
