Gordon Igesund’s Bafana Bafana have once again dropped in FIFA’s world rankings, this time from 59th to 67th.
The news will come as a blow to Igesund who is hoping that a higher position in the rankings will help them become a seeded team in the 2014 World Cup should Bafana manage to qualify.
However, Bafana are now ranked 12th in Africa and 67th in the world, limiting their chances of securing an easier draw in the World Cup if they do indeed make it to Brazil.
Meanwhile, the world’s top 10 teams have remained in the same place, with Spain leading the pack followed by Germany, Colombia, Argentina and Netherlands.
Africa’s top 10 currently sees Ivory Coast top, with Ghana, Mali, Algeria, Nigeria, Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Tunisia and Zambia occupying the nine places below them.
This month Bafana will take on Nigeria and Burkina Faso, however due to the fact that both games are friendlies they will not accumulate many points towards the rankings should they go on to win the games.
