A former Al Ahly star has insisted that Southern Africans Percy Tau and Luis Miquissone are among some of the best acquisitions the club made during his time in the Egyptian capital.
Report: Tau Out Of Ahly's Champions League Tie
Junior Ajayi enjoyed a lot of success during his five-and-a-half years playing for the Club of the Century, with the Nigeria international scoring 41 goals and providing 30 assists in 161 appearances for the Red Devils, according to Transfermarkt.
The Lagos native's time in Cairo came to an end in February this year when the club decided to terminate his contract as the attacker was plagued by injuries, while the arrivals of Mozambican Luis Miquissone and South African Percy Tau also pushed him down the pecking order.
Ajayi, however, partly attributes his exit to Pitso Mosimane's arrival at the club, but did concede in a recent interview that the abovementioned Southern African duo are some of the finest talent Al Ahly have brought to the club.
"When Pitso Mosimane arrived, I was playing even before the Champions League final against Wydad Casablanca, but I felt he wanted new players," he said while speaking to On Time Sports.
"I spoke to him later and told him I knew that I was leaving, but he was open and honest with me.
"Luis Miquissone and Percy Tau are among the best signings for Al Ahly, but they just needed time to show their potential."
The Nigerian looks back on his time with the Red Devils with fondness, having won 10 titles with the club, including two CAF Champions League trophies.
"When I came to Egypt, I did not know how big the Al Ahly-Zamalek game was, but in my first Cairo derby, I found out this match is the biggest in the Arab world," Ajayi added.
"I spent five years at Al Ahly and those years are the most important in my life. I had the privilege to play with many legends at the club.

"It was a dream of mine to retire at the club, but at the same time, I already achieved everything that I possibly could over there and it was time for something new."
