Enyimba FC midfield dynamo Kinsley "Bobby" Sokari speaks on what was a breakouy season for him, as his good form saw him called up to three different arms of Nigeria national teams within a space of one month.
The 18-year-old, who now been tussled for by the Super Eagles, Under-23 and Under-20, revealed to SL10.ng his preferred choice in this interview at the camp of the Nigeria Under-20.
SL10: Congratulations on your recent invitations to all categories of Nigeria national team bar the Under-17 how does it feel like?
Sokari: First of all I have to thank God almighty, my coaches, teammate and my management team before saying I feel am finally on my way to stardom and for that reason I thank everybody who played a part in taking me this far.
SL10: A year ago you were playing street football, how did it feel mixing it up with the big boys in the Super Eagles?
Sokari: (Laughs),To be honest I was shy and nervous but thanks to the coaches, they kept on encouraging me and not just me, most of us based at home Coach Stephen Keshi accorded us the same treatment as the foreign based professionals.
I personally will say I adapted well, thanks to the way the players reacted to me as well, but that fear was gone after the first night in camp.
SL10: What particular moment have you not forgot about in your first training session with the Super Eagles?
Sokari: I won't forget in a hurry when Gbolahan Salami wanted a pass from Mikel Obi and he called him senior-man but Keshi was having none of it and barked at him, that here we are all equal on the pitch and no use of the word senior man.
I can never forget that because that alone took my motivation to another level.
SL10: How painful was it losing the League to Kano Pillars despite winning the FA Cup.
Sokari: As an ambitious man, I wanted a double but sometimes man propose, God dispose, overall the pain of losing the league was huge, but the consolation was lifting the FA Cup and finishing second, earning a place in the CAF champions league.
SL10: You have been invited to three arms of the Nigerian national team, which do you prefer?
Sokari: I'm a very modest man who believe in God time, but I'd rather be at where I know I'm guarantee to play and develop further and with all honesty, sincerity and appreciation, I prefer the Under-20.
SL10: After Enyimba, what next?
Sokari: Like every Nigerian player, I wish to take my career abroad anytime soon and locally I pray Enyimba be my last domestic team.
SL10: Which team is your dream team?
Sokari: I love the La-Liga very well, as I believe my game is best suited to it, my dream team is the big two, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
SL10: Who is your role model?
Sokari: Andres Iniesta, I can watch him play all day, without getting bored, he inspires me a lot, I wish to reach his height in football and by God grace surpass his achievement.
SL10: Thank you for talking to us.
Sokari: You welcome and thank you for voting me as the Rookie of The Year on your website, I'm still waiting for my plaque. (Laughs)
