Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Steve Komphela admits they can't make any excuses, following their Nedbank Cup exit at the hands of SuperSport United.
With the score locked at 1-1, Chiefs were awarded a penalty in extra time, however Benard Parker had his spot-kick saved by former AmaKhosi goalkeeper, Reyaad Pieterse.
"Had we scored the penalty, we would have been talking a different game, but you can't make any excuses, we gave it away when we had the opportunity," Komphela said after the game.
"Every-time you miss chances like those, remember last season when we went to the (Telkom Knockout) cup final, we missed two penalties and you'll never come back out of it that. It knocks your confidence.
"I thought first half we could have been quicker on our transitions and it was clear SuperSport were well structured. They were sitting in the block, they didn't allow us to play between the lines.
"In the second half we opted to go wider, where I thought we had better chances, the game was more open.
"When it comes to penalties, it's no excuse, but it's lottery and when you lose on penalties, what else can you do? You should have won it in 90 minutes or worst case scenario, when we got the penalty in extra-time."
