FC Barcelona have been heavily linked with Antoine Griezmann, who would cost them more than €100 million, but club captain Lionel Messi is reportedly not in favour of the deal and wants the Blaugrana to re-sign Neymar instead – a stance that has apparently upset some at the club.

It is understood the Argentine has retained a good relationship with his former teammate, with Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar – known as "MSN" during their time together the Camp Nou – reportedly still sharing a WhatsApp group.
According to RMC Sport, before leaving to join up with Argentina's Copa America squad, Messi went to the club's bosses to raise his concerns about Griezmann's potential arrival.

The Argentine and several other Barca squad members are believed to be unhappy with the way Griezmann snubbed the club last season, when he announced his decision to stay at Atletico Madrid, after being heavily linked with Blaugrana, via a documentary.
RMC also claimed that Messi asked the board to rather re-sign Neymar, but the captain's request reportedly annoyed some of the club's leadership, who believe in the quality and talent of Griezmann.

Due to Paris Saint-Germain's stance that Neymar is not for sale, Griezmann's arrival at the Camp Nou seems more likely than return of the Brazilian, who left the club for a world record fee of €222 million (R3.6 billion) in 2017.
