Ronaldo Goes Missing While Other Stars Shine

Portugal superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, wasn’t able to prevent his side from being dismantled 4-0 by a ruthless German team.

While Neymar, Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema, Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller all got off to a flying start in the Golden Boot race, Ronaldo was left frustrated by the Germans on Monday.

The Portugal captain, who has just returned from his recent injury and claims he doesn’t need to prove anything, looked determined to make his mark on the match.

However, he hardly had an influence in the first half, as the German defence often doubled up on him and Portugal’s main action came from the other wing through Nani.

Strangely, Nani and a couple of others were seemingly looking for the final pass to the 29-year-old instead of taking the responsibility themselves.

Ronaldo’s game became even more difficult when Pepe was sent off and Germany had a one-man advantage.

As the game went on, Ronaldo looked more and more frustrated, lamenting with the referee and his teammates.

All that was left was for Ronaldo to try to score his goal. He had three chances late in the game, but his first two were poor compared to his usual standard. The third, however, was superbly struck but well dealt with by Manuel Neuer.

After the 4-0 defeat, Ronaldo has now two more games to save his country's and his own World Cup campaign.
