Earlier in the transfer window, it seemed the Sheffield native was destined to complete a £30 million (R699 million) move to West Ham United, but negotiations pertaining to that particular move eventually stalled.
The Hammers are now believed to be prioritising other positions, and have proposed a loan move to the Mancunians for Maguire, but, according to the Daily Mail, the record Premier League champions will not let go of the England international on a temporary basis and are only willing to part with the defender on a permanent deal.
United are eager to reinforce their own squad, but currently do not seem to have the financial capabilities to do so, and are looking to recoup as much funds from player sales as possible before the end of the transfer window as they look to complete some last-minute moves.
Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag is rumoured to be keen to add reinforcements in defence, specifically at left-back, and midfield before the end of deadline day.

The likes of Marc Cucurella, Rico Henry, Marcos Alonso, Ryan Gravenberch and Sofyan Amrabat are all mooted as potential targets for United, but it is said that before they can make formal bids for any of them, players such as Maguire and Scott McTominay have to be sold.
