Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has intentions of bringing Lionel Messi to the Italian Serie A.
The Italian side had great success in late 1980’s and early 1990’s, and their president, Massimo Ferrero said that signing the Argentine would be the ideal transfer for his club.
"The signing of my dreams? I am always aiming high and the dream signing would be Messi,” he told Sky Sport 24.
"I can only say that he likes Sampdoria's colours and that I am here to win things and not to count ants."
The 63-year-old has great pride in his club, saying that he would like to see them excel once again – much like they did years ago.
“I want to be at the heart of a great Sampdoria again," he added.
"I want to repeat what Paolo Mantovani achieved with Sampdoria."
Sampdoria are currently sitting in sixth spot in the Serie A, with 35 points from their 23 league games.
Messi, who has been at the top of his game, has a buyout clause of €250 million at Barcelona, and is tied to the club until 2018.
