FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi could reportedly be sentenced to 22 and a half months in jail for tax fraud.
The Argentine was originally cleared of fraud by Spanish prosecutors, but the state attorney has now included him in the charge.
It was originally reported only Messi's father, Jorge, would face a jail sentence. The charge relates to a failure to pay more than €4 million of income tax in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Messi and his representatives have continuously claimed that the player himself, who is represented by his father, didn't have anything to do with the tax issues.
However, the state attorney reportedly believes there is enough proof to open a case against the Argentine and his father, which could see Messi eventually being sentenced to 22 and a half months in jail.
