The 25-year-old joined the La Liga side on Sunday and was presented on Monday, becoming the club's most expensive signing eve.
His countryman Neymar left Barcelona for a world record fee of €222 million (R3.3 billion) in the June-August transfer window, but had only good things to tell his Selecao teammate about his former club.
"I play with Neymar in the national team and we have been friends since we were kids," Coutinho said, as quoted by AS.
"He congratulated me and told me that there are incredible changing rooms.
"Luis Suarez and Paulinho also told me they hope I will have a very happy future here."
Coutinho, who will be reunited with his former Liverpool teammate Luis Suarez at the Camp Nou, also said the Uruguayan played an important role in his move.
"We had a very good time in Liverpool, we almost won the Premier League," he added.
"He's a great friend and it's a great honour to be able to play with him. He told me what the club and the city were like, and it made me want to come.
"I am very happy to play with him again, he is a great player, he wrote to me a lot, he is a very close friend."
With his €160 million move, Coutinho became the second most expensive player in football history.
