Argentina superstar Lionel Messi has labelled one of his FC Barcelona teammates as the best player in the history of Spanish football, ahead of Saturdays Champions League Final.
The 35-year-old Xavi Hernandez, who is set to make his final appearance for the club this weekend, was described by Messi as being the best player Spain has had.
Messi said that he was honoured to train and play alongside Xavi and could think of a better player than him in Spain.
"He's the best Spanish player in history. He can put the ball wherever he wants. It's been a pleasure for me to play alongside him in matches and in training," he told Marca.
Messi also touched on the Champion’s League final, which will be played on Saturday in Berlin.
"It's a different type of match, its special,” he added.
“We went through a lot to get there and we know it won't be easy. Juventus are a great club. Anything can happen.”
Xavi, who is moving to Qatari side Al-Sadd, has the opportunity to end off his Barcelona career with a rare treble this season.
