LaLiga recently saw Cristiano Ronaldo leave for Italy, and FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi could reportedly soon follow as he has been linked with a shock move away from the Catalan giants.
Many were surprised to see Ronaldo sign for Juventus following nine incredibly successful years at Real, with whom he won the UEFA Champions League four times.
In Spain, the 33-year-old met his biggest footballing rival in Messi, with whom he regularly challenged for domestic awards and trophies, as well as many individual accolades.
Just weeks after their longstanding rivalry in LaLiga came to an end, reports have now emerged stating that the pair could possibly reunite in Italy.
Marco Tronchetti Provera, CEO of Pirelli, who are the long-time sponsors of Inter Milan, hopes the Italian club's owners, The Suning Group, will target Messi.
"I hope that Suning, once Financial Fair Play will allow it, can make a huge signing," he said, according to Tuttosport.
"Messi? How can you say no to Messi?"
The Argentine has been linked with moves away from the Blaugrana before, but is currently under contract until 2021 in Spain, where he is the highest earner.
Despite Provera's comments, Messi has often spoken of his loyalty to Barca, a club he could possibly retire at.
