Ronaldinho Salutes 'Awesome' Messi

Some say symbolically, Messi overtook Ronaldinho’s mantle as the best player in the world once the Brazilian had moved on to Serie A, but the pair remain friends and have a strong relationship.

Ronaldinho congratulated Messi on breaking the all-time goalscoring record with an Instagram post, saying how grateful he was to be part of the story.

“Congratulations my friend, you deserve it... Being part of this story is very rewarding and seeing you today is a great pride, you conquered us all with your humility and talent!!! Congratulations Leo, family and Barcelona, you're awesome!!!”

It’s fair to say that Ronaldinho played a defining part in Messi’s career, as he was the player who created Messi’s very first La Liga goal, the first step on the way to the record.
