The Buccaneers were initially scheduled to play a friendly against Polokwane City but there was a change in plans, with Muhsin Ertugral's side opting to host Siwelele at the Orlando Stadium this morning.
Bucs took to the club's official website to confirm the details of their win:
A solitary goal from Thamsanqa Gabuza was enough to see Orlando Pirates defeat Bloemfontein Celtic in a friendly match played at the Orlando Stadium earlier this morning.
As the start of the 2016/17 campaign nears, the Pirates technical team continues to fine tune and prepare the team for what promises to be a competitive season.
Pirates, who recently returned from a tournament in Namibia where they came last in the four-team tournament featuring Mamelodi Sundowns, Tigers FC (Namibia) and African Stars (Namibia), took on Phunya Sele Sele at the Mecca of South African football, the Orlando Stadium.
It was a closely contested affair with both teams offering equal opportunities to score however, the rustiness of post season break was evident as both teams lacked the finishing touch.
The teams went into the break with the match scoreless.
Despite both coaches ringing a number of changes at the half time break to give other players a chance, the second half dished up more of the same. However, with less than 10 minutes to play, the Buccaneers found the back of the net after some neat passing in the centre of the park before the ball was played out wide for Thembela Sikhakhane, who whipped in a neat cross for Gabuza, who headed the ball into the net.
