Real Madrid have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered ‘muscular injury to his left hamstring’ which could keep him out of the Copa del Rey final next week.
The club, however, have not confirmed how long the injury will keep their superstar side-lined, but is expected that Ronaldo will miss around two weeks.
That means he would definitely sit out during the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona next Wednesday and could also miss the first leg of the Champions League semi-final in a fortnight.
“After tests conducted with Cristiano Ronaldo a muscular injury to his left hamstring has been detected. Pending developments,” reads a statement on Real Madrid’s website.
Initially it was thought that Cristiano was suffering a patellar tendonitis (Jumper’s knee) and was subsequently rested against Almeria and Dortmund this week.
However, the new injury sounds more serious and will worry Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, to miss his top scorer in a pivotal stage of the season.
