New FC Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique, has promised to build a new ‘exciting’ Barcelona which will play the attacking football millions of fans love.
The 44-year-old has officially signed his contract on Wednesday and will try to bring back the successful days of Pep Guardiola, after following a similar path as the current Bayern Munich coach.
Enrique, a former Real Madrid and Barcelona played, coached the B team between 2008 and 2011 and knows the ins-and-outs at the Catalan giants.
"Today is a very exciting day for me, a very special day, a day we start to build a new Barca. A Barca that can excite people," he told reporters.
"I am very happy to be here, the new season begins here, we've got things to decide, I am hoping we have got a great season ahead, but I know I have got a big task ahead of me.
"I am more than a manager, I am a leader, I am here to lead, leadership skills are very important.
"I’ll be looking for plenty of hunger from the players and they’ll have to show me that every day.”
Enrique says he is eyeing to implement the attractive style of football which millions of Barcelona fans know and have fallen in love with, while staying responsible at the back.
“My team will attack, we’ll play attractive and effective football – the kind of football that millions across the world have come to love - which means we need to defend well too,” he added.
"Obviously I will bring things to the team because I have got my own ideas, but I am hoping for an attractive and effective Barcelona."
