City Humiliate Champions

Manchester City humiliated a toothless Manchester United in a 4-1 home win, taking them to third place on the log and claiming the bragging rights on derby day.

The champions were missing key man Robin Van Persie through a hamstring injury suffered during training and this showed throughout the game.

The home side did most of the attacking in the first-half with United looking shell shocked and struggling to hold on to any worthwhile possession.

In one of football’s most highly anticipated derby match ups, the blue side of Manchester took on the red side. The teams came out and attacked straight from the first whistle and City had the ball in the back of the net within 15 minutes through Argentine striker Sergio Aguero.

Captain Yaya Toure then pounced on a loosed ball in the box to double the hosts lead just before the end of the first-half.

Aguero then got his second of the afternoon in the 47th minute capping off some good work by Álvaro Negredo on the home teams left hand side before Samir Nasri score City’s fourth with a right footed shot three minutes later.

United had no answer to the attacking three of Aguero, Negrado and Nasri, who all got on the score sheet at the Etihad Arena.

Wayne Rooney did however score a consolation goal for last season’s champions with a wonderful free-kick that gave City shot stopper Joe Hart no chance, but that would not have saved the blushes of David Moyes who has now lost against the “noisy neighbours” as well as rivals Liverpool.
