Orlando Pirates' Edwin Gyimah has broken his silence and admitted to wrongdoing for his much-publicised altercation with coach Muhsin Ertugral.

Following Bucs' league game with Ajax Cape Town last month, the Ghanaian was involved in an altercation with the Turkish coach at the Cape Town International Airport, on the team's return to Johannesburg.

The tough-tackling player has spoken about the incident in his interview in issue 997 of Soccer Laduma and said he feels the whole incident has been somewhat exaggerated.

"I think people exaggerated the whole thing, but sometimes things like that happen for a good cause. We have both put all that aside. At the end of the day, we came to Orlando Pirates to work, so we should not carry any grudges in our hearts. The most important thing is what you do after that, so you have to put your differences aside. I need to make sure I see him as my father and head coach, and for him to see me as his son," said Gyimah.

However, the former SuperSport United and Mpumalanga Black Aces player did admit to being unprofessional in the way he acted on the day of the unfortunate incident.

"As a player, I acted unprofessionally. I have to be honest – I did not behave like a professional. For me to do that, I was not thinking about the people who look up to me. As a public figure, I must be a good example. I don't want supporters to have a bad image of Edwin Gyimah. That day was not good for me," explained Gyimah.

Ertugral has since parted ways with Bucs, as confirmed by the club's chairman Irvin Khoza in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
