Opta Announcs Serie A Team Of The Season

LW: Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)

Opta Sports has announced its official 2019/20 Serie A Team of the Season, and four players from champions Juventus made the cut, but former Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku was snubbed despite producing his best personal campaign yet.

Football statistics company Opta, who regularly rate the performances of players in Europe's top leagues, recently put together its Serie A Top XI for 2019/20.

Juventus famously lifted their ninth straight league title, and their 36th overall, this season after beating Inter Milan by just one point in the final standings.

As a consequence, it will not surprise many that the Bianconeri dominate the team, with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, right-back Juan Cuadrado, Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo being included in the selection.

Dybala was named the 2019/20 Serie A MVP on Tuesday, while Szczesny was listed as the best goalkeeper, with Ronaldo being snubbed for the league's official awards.

The Portugal superstar did score 31 goals in the league this season, though, with only Ciro Immobile netting more. The Lazio forward equalled the Italian top flight's record for the most goals in a single campaign, and was included in Opta's team as well.

However, there was no space for Lukaku despite the Inter forward experiencing his best personal campaign yet, having netted 29 goals across all competitions thus far – you can see the complete Serie A Team of the Season in the gallery above!
