One of Arsenal's recent signings is reportedly "desperate" to leave the club, despite not having played a single game for the Gunners' senior team.
French defender William Saliba joined the Gunners in July 2019, but returned to Saint-Etienne on loan for the rest of the 2019/20 campaign season.
The 19-year-old has stayed with Arsenal for the current season, but was surprisingly left out of the club's 2020/21 Premier League squad, which means he can only play in the reserve Premier League.
Saint-Etienne have been linked with a move for the central defender, and while his wages may be an issue, it is claimed Saliba would be willing to sacrifice his current salary, said to be £90 000 (R1.8 million) a week, to leave.
When asked about centre-back's situation earlier this month, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said: "I'm fed up with the situation because, as you could see, we tried to find a way in the last few days to give him some football.
"I explained that he needed that transition year when we decided to buy him and send him on loan to Saint-Etienne. For many reasons, that didn't happen – he didn't have that transition year and he needs to go through that.
"At the moment, with the amount of central defenders we have in the team, we had to leave him out of the squad, which is painful. Now we have some injuries and we could have used him but this is part of the profession."
