'Of Course I Was Willing To Take Sundowns' Offer'

'Of Course I Was Willing To Take Sundowns' Offer'

After the Siya crew reported that Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Ricardo Goss was headed to Mamelodi Sundowns next season, the keeper has now spoken on his imminent move to Chloorkop.

Just a few months ago, Goss, like the rest of the country was sure that his stay with Wits was a stable one at the Clever Boys, a club with a 99-year history behind them.

However, this was all brought to an end when the Siya crew reported that the Braamfontein outfit was sold to businessman Masala Mulaudzi, and would be relocated to Venda next season.

With his future to consider, Goss wasted no time in agreeing a deal with reigning Absa Premiership champions Sundowns, who he will join upon the completion of the 2019/20 campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Soccer Laduma edition 1182, the 24-year-old opened up on how his move to Pitso Mosimane's side came about and why it was a no-brainer signing on the dotted line.

"Yeah, of course I was willing to take the Sundowns offer, but obviously I cannot say it now because Sundowns are the ones who must say it, you know. I don't think I can even say that it's a done deal because Sundowns are the ones who have to confirm everything and release a statement."

However, Goss is fully aware of the competition he faces in Sundowns' star-studded goalkeeping department, but reveals he is prepared for the challenge.

"Obviously, every player wants to play. There is no player that wants to be on the bench all the time. Honestly speaking, they've got great goalkeepers, they've got Africa's number one goalkeeper, so for me, its to go and there and compete and just do my best every day and the rest will happen, you know.

It's not going to be an easy one because they have got great quality goalkeepers. It's going to be the toughest challenge I've faced but I'm ready for it," Goss concluded.

Goss also spoke about:

  • The sale of the club
  • His Nedbank Cup Ambitions
  • His return to the national team set-up
