The Kaizer Chiefs Carling Black Label Cup starting XI looks to be settling with no changes to the line-up in the last week, but they have a number of defensive issues.

The most notable absentee for the Amakhosi is star central defender, Erick Mathoho, who misses out on facing Orlando Pirates due to injury. The towering centre back underwent surgery towards the end of last season and is still recovering.
With Morgan Gould also sidelined due to injury, new recruit Siyanda Xulu, is the only recognised centre back in the starting XI. It looks as though Siboniso Gaxa will have to partner him in the heart of defence with Kgotso Moleko at right back.
The positive for Chiefs though is that both Tsepo Masilela and Daniel Cardoso who have been sidelined with minor knocks for the past few weeks have responded well to treatment, however it remains to be seen if they will recover in time for the Soweto Derby spectacle on August 1.
