Guardiola won the league in each of his seasons with the Bavarians, but was crticised for his side's displays in the UEFA Champions League.
However, Lothar Matthäus, who led Germany to the 1990 World Cup title, has now critiscised Guardiola's stint in Germany.
“With Guardiola I have always had the impression that he wants to prove to opposition teams that he can reinvent football. That will not happen under Carlo Ancelotti," Mathaus told Bild.
“The Italian will instil confidence and his three Champions League wins as a coach with Milan and Real Madrid prove that. He does not play poker, instead he plays the players who are best,”
“These little things make the difference in tight games, which is what caused Guardiola to lose all of his semi-finals.
"Bayern’s squad is smaller this season but it contains more quality. Bayern have to play Atlético in the group stage, who have Griezmann up their sleeve. But Bayern are slight favourites over the other teams to win the Champions League, above Real Madrid and Barcelona.”
