The likes of U20 head coach, Thabo Senong, has been appointed to work alongside Head Coach, Stuart Baxter, for Bafana Bafana’s Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against Nigeria on June 10.
Baxter is yet to reveal his official technical team that will assist him during his time as the national team’s head coach, however, indications are that the Englishman had little time to finalize the process ahead of the country’s clash against Nigeria this week.
The South African Football Association have since confirmed that Senong, goalkeeper coach, Alex Heredia and U17 national team coach, Molefi Ntseki, have been appointed alongside Baxter in the interim, with Owen Da Gama excluded from the technical team set-up.
Da Gama oversaw the Bafana bench after the dismissal of former head coach Shakes Mashaba, from the helm of the national team. However, as reported previously on Soccer Laduma, a source in the know has since revealed that Da Gama’s spell with the senior national team could be drawing to an end.
The national team reported to camp yesterday, June 04, and it has since been confirmed that Mamelodi Sundowns’ Hlompho Kekana has been withdrawn from the squad due to injury and was subsequently replaced by teammate, Tiyani Mabunda.
Bafana will be jetting off to Nigeria on Wednesday, June 07, where they will continue preparations for the AFCON qualifying encounter on Saturday, June 10.
