The South African Football Association (SAFA) is on the verge of announcing Bafana Bafana’s opponents for the international friendly scheduled to be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 28 March 2015.
Despite media reports claiming that Bafana’s opponents will be Australia, SAFA have officially refuted the Socceroos as Bafana’s opposition and, while they have been tight-lipped on who the next opponents will be, Soccer Laduma understands that the National football governing body could be looking at one of the biggest names on the African continent.
“I cannot comment on that rumour but one thing for sure is that we are about to tie down one of the global soccer giants which will excite local soccer fans,” said SAFA’s Communications Head, Dominic Chimhavi.
Last year, indications were that Bafana could face South American giants, Argentina who are currently ranked number two in the world, however it has been reported by the crew that Argentina will no longer visit South African shores.
The international friendly will be Bafana’s first encounter since their early exit from the 2015 African Cup of Nations, and head coach, Shakes Mashaba will be looking at restoring some national pride back in the hearts of the South African public.
