Teams: Cape Town City v Baroka FC
Date: 05 January 2020
Venue: Cape Town Stadium
Cape Town City will be aiming to turn around their fortunes when they host Baroka FC in the Absa Premiership's relegation battle on Sunday afternoon at Cape Town Stadium.
The Citizens find themselves in unfamiliar territory at the bottom of the table after going five matches without victory following the 2-0 defeat to Bidvest Wits before the festive break. City are also yet to score since Dutchman Jan Olde Riekerink took over on the bench.
However, The Citizens did get good news during the festive break, as Mpho Makola will be eligible to play after his six-month ban was reduced on appeal to four matches, which he already served last year.
Furthermore, striker Kermit Erasmus and captain Thamsanqa Mkhize both recovered from their injuries, while new signing Mduduzi Mdantsane will be unable to make his debut against his former side.
Meanwhile, the Limpopo side appointed former Black Leopards coach Dylan Kerr on New Year's Eve after Wedsib Nyirenda resigned last year.
Nyirenda had suffered a 1-0 defeat to Stellenbosch FC in the final match of the year, stretching the side's winless run to four matches.
