In today's edition of Supporters Club Did You Know, we bring you the story of how the word "laduma" came to be in our everyday existence, and the man we have to thank for it.
His name was Zama Masondo, who is best known for his football commentary in isiZulu. He was originally a school teacher before becoming a commentator.
Zama was tired of hearing African commentators simply translate English plainly when speaking on the games. One day, the word just came to him spontaneously.
"I just said it LAAAADUUUUUMA! What it means in Zulu is something like: 'It has thundered!'," he said.
"Initially, I would say something like 'it has thundered from the foot'. But after a while everybody knew that 'Laduma' meant goal."
