PSL players' salaries is one of the most talked about issues in local football, with many fans having divided opinions on the topic.
A career in football is a short one, with players able to play for 15 years at the top level if they are lucky. In that space of time, footballers often earn huge salaries and want to make the most of it before it all comes to an end.
So what should PSL players earn? What would constitute a reasonable salary for a South African footballer?
We know that big spenders Mamelodi Sundowns are a club that pays well. Many stars at Chloorkop are on good deals, with the club's top earners receiving between R200 000 and R350 000 a month.
Kaizer Chiefs star Itumeleng Khune reportedly signed one of the biggest deals in the PSL at the beginning of the campaign, agreeing a salary of close to R500 000. Bernard Parker also recently extended his deal with Amakhosi and now sits on a salary of about R300 000.
Oupa Manyisa is said to be the highest paid player at Orlando Pirates, earning about R200 000 a month, with players like Mpho Makola and Kermit Erasmus also being among the club's top earners.
At a team like Ajax Cape Town, the top earners are said to be raking in salaries of between R35 000 and R80 000.
