It's Thursday again, and, as usual, Supporters Club takes you down memory lane. Remember the 1993 Bob Save Super Bowl final between Kaizer Chiefs and Witbank Aces?
The game was played at a packed FNB Stadium. Amakhosi went into the fixture as hot favourites due to their cup pedigree. They had a galaxy of stars in their team, including Ace Khuse, Doctor Khumalo, Fani Madida, Neil Tovey, Lucas Radebe and Botende Eshele, while Aces had a group of hard-working players such as Richard Peer, Jerry Sikhosana, Mxolisi Mgqamqo, Sello Page Mahlangu and Dumisa Ngobe.
The first half ended 0-0, but Amakhosi were in control of the proceedings, although they didn't have anything to show for it. In the second half, Amazayoni made a few changes and started making a game of it. There were just no goals, though, but just when everybody thought the game was going to extra time, Aces were awarded a free kick in injury time.
Richard Peer stepped up and put the ball in the far corner, leaving Eshele stunned. 1-0 to Amazayoni!
Immediately after Amakhosi restarted play, the referee blew the final whistle. The scoreline read Kaizer Chiefs 0-1 Black Aces, and Amazayoni were crowned the 1993 Bob Save Super Bowl champions.
What are your best or worst memories from that game?
