It's Thursday again, so Supporters Club takes you down memory lane!
The Soweto Derby is fast approaching (4 March), so today we decided take a look at one of the most memorable derbies, the 1996 Bob Save Super Bowl semi- final between the two Soweto giants.
The game was played on 2 November 1996, at a packed FNB Stadium, and it certainly lived up to the spectators' expectations. It was end-to-end stuff, a thrill-a-minute match. Pirates were first to draw blood, through their prolific striker Jerry "Legs of Thunder" Sikhosana, and he doubled the Buccaneers' lead just before half-time.
Shortly after the start of the second half, Sikhosana grabbed his third goal of the game, and Bucs were 3-0 up. David Modise pulled one back for Amakhosi, before Helman "Midnight Express" Mkhalele put his effort past Brian "Spiderman" Baloyi to seal the 4-1 victory for Ezimnyama.
The Buccaneers were through to the 1996 Bob Save Super Bowl final, where they would beat Jomo Cosmos 1-0 to be crowned the cup champions!
What are your best or worst memories of that game?
