On Wednesday night, all eyes will be focused on the Lucas Moripe Stadium as two of this season's giants clash. A titanic battle with dire consequences for the league and the two teams involved, it's Mamelodi Sundowns up against Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Supporters Club caught up with Mama Tsontso and Mama Pule, Sundowns and Aces superfans respectively, and asked them one simple question: What does this game mean to you, your supporters and your team?
Mama Tsontso – Mamelodi Sundowns
"This game is very, very important. We've messed up recently with a draw and a loss, so we need a win to open up the gap again. We have 10 games remaining, we cannot afford any more draws or losses if we are to secure the league. If we lose tomorrow, we will have a big issue with confidence when it comes to Chicken Inn on the weekend. We still want both the league and CAF, and we need to field a full-strength squad for both."
Prediction: Mamelodi Sundowns 4 – 1 Mpumalanga Black Aces
Mama Pule – Mpumalanga Black Aces
"This is going to be an extremely tough one. We need three points because we haven't had any wins in a long time. The boys know the importance of this game, they tried their best against Pirates, but it just didn't come right. We still have 10 games to take this league. I'm not worried about the fixtures following Sundowns; we have the Nedbank Cup, where we are going to use the small boys. For this game, we need a strong backline to deal with that CBD (Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat, and Keagan Dolly)."
Prediction: Mamelodi Sundowns 1 – 2 Mpumalanga Black Aces
What an interesting battle we have lined up here...
A victory for Amazayoni could help the title aspirations of hot-on-the-heels Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits. It could also shake the confidence of the Brazilians severely before their crucial second-leg encounter with Chicken Inn this weekend.
A win for Sundowns could mean the beginning of the end of the title race for all the other teams involved. All we have to do as supporters is sit back and watch the show… Let the boys battle!
What is your prediction for this game? What will a win for either team mean for the remainder of their league fixtures?
