After Mamelodi Sundowns and Al-Merrikh's 0-0 draw in the CAF Champions League this past weekend, supporters weighed in on top scorer Peter Shalulile's performance.
What's the story?
After their 0-0 stalemate against the side from Sudan Downs topped group A after two games as they look to fend off top opposition in the form of Al Ahly and Al Hilal.
Against Al-Merrikh, Sundowns often dominated possession for large parts of the game, while also having to endure a number of sustained attacks from their opponents.
No Way Through
Swift and precise passing moves often carved open the Al-Merrikh defence, which proved to be a stubborn wall to break down at times. In adding to their frustration, Downs were caught offside on a number of occasions.
In leading the line, Namibian star Peter Shalulile found it difficult to get the better of the opposition defence with Surprise Ralani, Themba Zwane and Erwin Saavedra pulling the strings behind him.
Shalulile, who has been having a great season for Downs so far, had supporters bemoaning his performance against Al-Merrikh, with some indicating that he should be working on his movement around the offside line.
Here are some of the responses:
Well played but Zwane and Jali and Shalulile wasn't at their best.
Shalulile should learn to be cool. He always on rush.
Onyango Brian ????. Otherwise we'll behind you all the way ????
Please tell the 3 of them to spend this whole week teaching Peter Shalulile the meaning of offside.
Some guy I was chilling with Saturday he said that, Shalulile is always offside and I remembered how Tau was also to be found offside. He needs to track his runs and know when to go in and out
Have your say…
Do you think Downs can win the CAF Champions League?
