With Flemming Berg announced as the new Sporting Director at Mamelodi Sundowns, we check out how Masandawana fans reacted to the news. Have a look!
What's the story?
As mentioned, the reigning DStv Premiership champions welcomed a new face at the club this week, with Berg being announced as the club's Sporting Director.
The 49-year-old replaces Jose Roman Alexanko, who has reportedly joined Barcelona as their academy manager. Berg worked as a talent development manager for the Danish FA before joining the Chloorkop giants.
While he will look to take the club's academy to the next level, while also having an input on the senior team, Berg spoke highly of the club.
New Heights
The 49-year-old had been working as a talent development manager for the Danish FA before he was lured by the Brazilians in an attempt to take the club's academy to new heights while also having input on the senior men's team.
Speaking to journalists, Berg mentioned, "I leave the Danish Federation in good hands, for me the timing is really good and they can take advantage of it. When I was contacted about Mamelodi Sundowns, it was for me an opportunity to make a difference for the club and SA football in general, it was just so intriguing to me.
"You shouldn't wait to do good things until bad things happen, so I am happy to walk in and find a club already doing so well."
Here though, is what the fans made of the appointment:

I think we have a lot to do when it comes to Scouting, I need to see talented players with a lot of character when I watch Multichoice. I need to see the next Mshishi in the set, go and get them.

Our job as fans/supporters is to give support to the club in whatever way we can..NOT to interfere with management appointment decisions.

We have no capacity to judge whether or not this or that person qualifies for the job. That's the management's job.
