Orlando Pirates earlier confirmed a swap deal which saw them sign Chippa United' Diamond Thopola and Phetso Maphanga, with star midfielder Thabo Rakhale going the other way.
Supporters have since reacted to the news and we caught up with one of our members, Warren Makubule, who expressed his disappointment with Bucs' decision to let go of Rakhale.
Lerato: Eita my brother, most Bucs supporters seem really disappointed with Rakhale's exit from the Mayfair. Talk to me, how do you feel?
Warren: I am very unhappy and disappointed that Pirates released Rakhale. There was nothing wrong with the boy. If anything, he gave his all in the field. There was always a difference when he was not in the team that was playing. Thabo did not play in most of the games but played in the big ones, i.e Soweto Derby and against Mamelodi Sundowns and contributed positively. In the recent Carling Black Label Cup, Kaizer Chiefs' Pule Ekstein gave Bucs players a good run for their money. Rakhale was not playing in that match. I said to myself, if Micho could give Rakhale a chance, he will show Ekstein flames. It's like the coach read my mind because he fielded him in the first league game of the season and Ekstein was nowhere to be found! Rakhale never set a foot wrong. Maybe it's a personal matter between him and Micho, I don't know but I'm very unhappy. You know my sister, what Pirates and the management don't understand is that we invest more than time and money in the team, we invest emotions. I could be wrong but Rakhale might end up at Chiefs. If he does, I hope he does well enough to make Pirates regret releasing him. He might even end up like the late Scara Ngobese who shone in Amakhosi colours. Maybe coaches watch different from us fans. I mean how do you keep players like Gabuza and Makola who have not been doing well? We need a top striker, yet they bring in a midfilder, for what? They are repeating the same mistake they made when Muhsin Ertugral was still in charge. Releasing our best players, for what I don't know. Pirates is tiring!
