After representing South Africa at the recent FIFA Club World Cup, tributes poured in for coach Pitso Mosimane as he left the tournament with a couple of records to his name.
What's the story?
Mosimane has continued in his path of collecting accolades and silverware after adding a FIFA Club World Cup bronze medal to his stacked trophy cabinet. Al Ahly swept Saudi Arabia club Al Hilal to the side in a 4-0 victory at the Al Nahyan Stadium.
History Maker
For the club, Al Ahly became the first team in history to win three FIFA Club World Cup Bronze medals. As for Jingles, the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor holds the record for being the only African coach with back-to-back medals at the Club World Cup.
Mosimane is also the second coach, after Zinedine Zidane to win two medals at the Club World Cup. In spite of his accolade, Mosimane recently came out and mentioned that he was not 'happy' at winning bronze as he would have liked a medal of a different colour.
Next Up…
Now, Al Ahly will turn their attention to the CAF Champions League in the hopes of returning to the tournament, when they face Al Hilal in a group stage match on Friday.
As expected, Mosimane became the talk of social media this past weekend, with tributes pouring in for him in the process.
