The news of Stuart Baxter parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs made waves on social media this week as we check out how fans reacted to the news.
What's the story?
In what was one of the biggest stories in local football recently, Baxter head toward the exit doors at Naturena despite having a year left on his contract.
Upon returning to the club, supporters were optimistic, given his track record during his first stint with the Glamour Boys. However, with nine wins, eight losses and six draws in 23 games in the current campaign, the club and Baxter came to a mutual agreement to an early termination of his contract.
Immediate Effect
While the news surfaced before the club made it official, Chiefs subsequently took to their social media handles in saying, "After a series of meetings, Kaizer Chiefs and coach Stuart Baxter have come to a mutual agreement of an early termination of his contract with immediate effect."
In detailing the rest of the season, the club went on to say, "Assistant coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard will take charge of the senior team for the remainder of the season, starting with the next match against Stellenbosch FC on Saturday, 23 April 2022.
We wish him well in the future.
The Club will make further announcements in due course."
Here though, is how the fans reacted to the news:
Thank him for his contribution but Bobby & management please make sure you do thorough scanning of all Depts. I can’t understand why do we buy strikers who play like midfielders . They are too shy in front of the goal posts . Don’t forget our central defence crisis.
Finally… we’ve been waiting for this… pic.twitter.com/z8nnqa1OOO
Now I'm gonna buy this season's kit. Thank you, Amakhosi. That old man had no respect for us the supporters of this great club... pic.twitter.com/F3scJSIUAE
Unfair dismissal, we must learn to be patient Makhosi. Sir Stuart Baxter Came and stabilized our team, we became Second best defense in the PSL because of him. He was building a strong team, all he needed was time, to build the team around Midfield Maestro Akumu Again????
Chopping and changing coaches won't make a difference if you're still gonna keep abo Parker, Rama, Akumu, Mathoho and Cardoso. These players are holding the team back. They no longer have the hunger and determination to win trophies.
Let them go. pic.twitter.com/pHUp57Fnjn
It takes more than 1 season to build a league winning team anywhere in the world. @KaizerChiefs fans y’all are very impatient , changing coaches seasonally is not helping thats why we not winning anything. Look at Pitso at Sundowns how long till he started winning ? 3 years min
Now go and get Manqoba or Micho or Rulani ????if u want change pic.twitter.com/YhevnmX3mL
Have your say…
Do you think this was the right move by Chiefs?
