A 2-0 loss for Kaizer Chiefs against Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semi-final saw the situation turn riotous and violent at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening.
Amakhosi saw their 2017/18 campaign officially end without silverware when they were dumped out of the tournament by Ea Lla Koto. What transpired after the game is something no one could have predicted as supporters flooded the field, beating up security personnel and breaking broadcasting equipment, among other things.
The incident happened just a few days after Chiefs were slapped with a R250 000 fine following crowd violence that occurred at FNB Stadium after Amakhosi suffered a 3-0 league loss to Chippa United earlier this month.
Supporters Club caught up with Chiefs fan Sylvester Nkosi, who expressed his disappointment following the hooligan behaviour of some of his fellow supporters at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
"Finally, Steve Komphela is gone and we are happy about that. What transpired after the game with supporters vandalising the stadium and putting people's lives in danger is unacceptable. We will face the PSL Disciplinary Committee and I can assure you that we will receive a two-match ban, without a doubt.
"Apart from that, the behaviour of fellow Amakhosi was totally embarrassing and shameful. What our supporters did was unacceptable and should never happen again. It pained my heart to see the security guard being beaten up that way. That person left his house to work for his children, only for him to be dehumanised and embarrassed like that. It is unacceptable and I hope SAPS and Kaizer Chiefs management will do all they can to get those people and jail them.
"I wish speedy recovery to all those who were injured on Saturday, especially the poor guy who got beaten up for something that had nothing to do with him."
What kind of punishment or sanction do you think Chiefs deserve following the hooligan behavior this weekend?
