Grobler Opens Up On Chiefs & Pirates Talks

Bradley Grobler has confirmed that there has been genuine interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, but said that he does not know if there are teams that would have stood by him through difficult times the way SuperSport United has.

Grobler is approaching 100 goals in the PSL and his form over the years has attracted interest from the Soweto giants, but nothing ever materialized. He is now in the final few months of his contract with SuperSport and the club is looking to keep him for another season, as confirmed by CEO Stan Matthews to the Siya crew recently.

There is a big chance that he could end his career with SuperSport and he would not have any regrets on not joining Chiefs or Pirates in his career.

"Yes, there has been interest and for different reasons those things did not happen, but there was talks over different years. It's been on and off with the clubs for a while. It has been there, but like I said, things happened," the 35-year-old said to the Siya crew.

"I am not someone who lives with regret. I have a lot of respect for those clubs, but at the same time I have a lot of respect for SuperSport United. There's not many teams who would have stood by me through the difficult times and this club did. At the same time, I have always classified SuperSport as a big team. We may not have the most supporters, but the amount of trophies I've won and the ones they won before that... This club has been one of the top when it comes to winning things. That's why I've classified SuperSport as being a top club."

SuperSport were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup, but still have a good chance of finishing second in the DStv Premiership and booking themselves a spot in next season's CAF Champions League.
